The Sunset Line

Monday, August 09, 2010

Sailing full speed ahead,
into the sunset sky,
a golden, orange blush appears
on the ship's keel.

Following the sun,
but losing the chase,
we inevitably get caught up
by the rolling in of the night.

Swallowed, whole into black,
night blindness,
we navigate by the stars'
thin pricks of light.

Mythic characters now,
peopling the night sky,
lending small clues
to navigating in the dark.
