Breaking Ice

Tuesday, August 10, 2010

Solid frozen wall resists
impermeable, heavy, immoveable.
Engines rev up, pitching muscle.

Motion through like sludge
dragging at every pore
cracking, creaking, screaming resistance.

Brace for shudder, collapse, sudden splinter
shattered fragments shower, recede.
Final minute forward motion.

Release of baited breath, sigh
Renewed focus, intensity, determination.
Slow and easy, let the engines do the work.

Treading, treading,
a fine thin, blue-ice line,
between human dominance, and nature's supremacy.
