Day 51 – The Sea Captain

Determination not to be dissolved, stares out in a concern,
the eyes, penetrating,
a man with responsibilities, shouldered stoically,
bearded gruffly, below a worried, lined brow.

unrelentingly looking forward,
ready to tackle a roughness,
if it should arrive.

Tense, with fatigue or stress,
ill-advised to stand in his way.
Could he be reached with a smiling lifeline?
or has he interiorized his concern, to
unreachable depths?

It’s a life or death matter, perhaps
that he holds back in reticence,
not finding nor seeking anyone
to share with this load.
